And I promise my life really doesn't revolve around home remodeling, paint, and furniture, but it has been a pretty interesting aspect of it recently.
So why not share another story about it, right?
Ok.
Because I sure am excited about it!
The long and short of it is that we have been going back and forth as to where to put the computer since the old office is the new nursery.
Living room? No... too cramped.
Dining room? No... just, no.
Our bedroom? No... well, just because I don't want to. Its my serene place.
So we settled on the guest bedroom.
Which means I wanted a computer armoire that would look decent, rather than the Target-self-assembled-desk special I have had since graduating from college.
So my hunt began for what I envisioned. These visions always get me in trouble.
For two months I am on the hunt for a 1)sturdy, 2)antique-ish, 3)right-sized 4)Pottery Barn look alike computer armoire. Ben's mom is on the hunt with me, since she frequents the coolest antique stores in Savannah and always finds amazing pieces.
And she introduces me to Riverside Furniture. Yeah, nice stuff. So now I have one of those in my head. I do not, however, have over $600 in my bank account to fork out for their armoire, or for any other armoire Lu or I have come across in any store, for that matter.
Anyway, about armoires...
Let me just tell you they are neither 1) cheap, or 2) sold often on Craigslist.
By the way, I am a mad lover of Craigslist.
So, now its crunch time, and we really ( and by really, I mean in my nesting, everything needs to be in its place RIGHT NOW world only) are needing this armoire.
Last Thursday, for the first time since I started looking, there are 2 listings for armoires that from the grainy pictures look like something that I may be able to make work.
So I email both listings and don't hear back for 2 days. Driving me crazy people.
Then on Saturday morning, I get one email back saying that one of them is still available (and this is the one that I would have picked first anyway).
So I ask if we can come take a look at it.
Sure! The guy replies... and by the way, I live in the 'boro. Come to find out, he lived 2.3 miles from our house.
Well, isn't that convenient...
So we go in to the garage, I start looking at this piece of furniture, and am trying not to get too excited. I mean, its pretty nice. Nicer than I thought it would be. I still need to see if I can talk him down a little if I want to get it.
About the time Ben looks at the sticker on the back of the armoire and asks me "Have you ever heard of Riverside Furniture?" is about when I felt lightheaded.
SHUT UP.
I mean, I knew it looked better than I thought it would, and I knew that it was the color I wanted, and I knew that this was a really good find, but ...no stinking way....
This guy was actually selling the computer armoire that I longed for. Don't wake me up.
I try not to shriek in front of the poor man (who happens to be selling it for his mom), and ask if he will take $50 less than his asking price. He calls his mom, while my heart is beating out of my chest, comes back and says "Its yours if you want it! Price is good with her."
YEAH. So now I can scream a little.
I promise the picture (once again, taken with my phone.. sorry.) doesn't do it justice, but here is my $600 + Riverside Furniture computer armoire...

That I got off of Craigslist, for a grand total of $150.
Now tell me that's not worth a little mad love.
xoxo dae
