Inside/Out

I am 20 days away from our due date. I am large. I am a little fatigued. I am more neurotic than usual about keeping the house clean. And I am hopelessly, unquestionably in love with our nursery. And Ben.

First, the nursery...

Is it normal for me to just go in the doorway and stand and stare at it?? I just love it that much. Ben did such a great job with everything; the floors, the paint, hanging stuff on the wall, I really can't take much credit. He has transformed the inside of our house in the last month. Its just unreal.

So, here's the long-awaited finished product!

I'm so ready to sit in my chair and rock my little girl. Wow. Just a few more weeks. (Am I ready?!?!)

Now, onto Ben...

As we all know once Spring is here Ben gets the yard bug.

No, wait. Let me rephrase. Ben gets absolutely and completely compelled to start working in our yard. He's outside every spare moment he can get.

The longer we are married the more excited I get with him (okay, so I just get excited to see what he will do next), but everything I try to grow usually dies, so I'm a little more cautious. He's the creative mastermind. I stick to herbs or the flowers in pots that sit on our front steps. This year I was ready for some color out front, but that's about as far as I had made it. I thought about it.
But I had also bought Ben this landscaping software for his birthday last year, and lets just say he has made it a lot farther than I have.

He's been on Spring Break this past week, and after digitally landscaping a friends yard, his mom's yard (who now has the butterfly garden of all gardens to be envied in Savannah!), he started on ours.

But first he surprised me one afternoon when I came home.

Most girls get a bunch of flowers to put in a vase.

I get a whole bunch of flowers on the front and back porch of my house. They just make me smile. =)
I love Spring.

So first there were those.

Then, the next day when I pull up to the house I see Ben outside, and he had just finished this:

He had leveled out that part of our yard, built up the bed with pavers, and we now have a gardenia garden right off of our back porch. Gardenia's smell like heaven. How nice will it be to sit on our back porch when those bloom??

So that is stage 1. Stay tuned for continued development on our outdoor landscaping. As of today Ben has 7 azalea bushes for the front flower bed, and a digital picture of his plans for our own butterfly garden off the corner of our house.

The man is a home-renovating, landscaping, teaching machine. And here I am, sitting around, just baking a bun in the oven. I gotta get a hobby.

:)

Here's to loving everything new inside and out- Happy Spring!!

xoxo dae

the nursery looks Awesome! Great job!!! It just looks so calming! I stood and stared at mine! Stare away...soon you won't have time to stare...or if you do you'll at least be staring at a baby!
