The Season of Sharing

So far Ben and I have done about 1,100 holiday miles in the car, and after Christmas in Savannah we'll be 2,000+. In case you haven't noticed, we are road warriors. I love Sirius, long uninterrupted quality time, and the fact that Ben is very patient and does most of the driving because he understands that I love to sleep in the car. Well, either that or he loves the uninterrupted NFL gameday coverage on Sirius. But hey, its my blog and I am a romantic at heart.

For Thanksgiving we hung out in Little Rock with my so cute it isn't fair sister and her family. We had a blast feasting, Black Friday shopping, and lounging around. While the grown boys did a little bonding hunting over the weekend, the younger boys (especially Will) apparently did a little bonding of their own. With Stormy.

Over icecream.

"One bite for me."

"One bite for you!"

I honestly don't know who enjoyed this more. Seriously. Those two were having the time of their lives. Heather got a video of it and its a classic.

After Thanksgiving (please read: After one holiday has been celebrated in its' entirety. In no way would I give into to the desire to put up my Christmas wreath or Nativity Scene before the turkey. But the desire was there. So at 9pm on Sunday night don't think we weren't dragging our beautifully-scented yet nightmare-to-clean-up-all-the-pine-needles live tree. And no, I am not a patient person. Yes we had just driven over 300 miles. No, I was not going to wait til Monday to put up the tree. C'mon.)

Here's Ben doing the honors. For some reason this is one of my favorite shots of the season. I have to document this moment every year. I have pictures of my Dad holding me up to put the star on top of our tree. I just love them. And do you have any idea how giddy I get thinking that next year Ben will be holding up a little girl!!??!

Last weekend we went to Ben's grandmama's in Alabama to do some Christmas festivities. All of the ladies gathered in the kitchen and made goodies (pausing for the SEC Championship Game, but we won't talk about that right now.) and ate. And ate. And ate.

Yes, this is the effect of the sugar highs. This was about the 20th shot. We couldn't keep it straight.

Ok. Seriously.

Oh, and we can't forget the entertainment of the weekend:

I mean, how wrinkly cute is this picture??

(Stormy says " I SAID, this is my chair." Apparently the sharing lesson with Will didn't stick.)

May you have blissful sugar highs with loved ones this season.

xoxo, dae
