Life, Unexepected

We had visitors a couple of weeks ago. And it's that stage in life where if your grandparents come to visit and you see your grandfather reading to their great grandkids, it makes your breath catch in your throat, because the beauty of life is just like that sometimes.

It was a brief trip, but such a sweet time.

My tumbling tiger had a medal ceremony, and just look at the excitement on that face. My mind had a hard time associating this sprite thing bouncing around and flipping over parallel bars with the baby I held a few weeks ago that was just learning to crawl around in her tiny little footed pj's. (That was just a few weeks ago, right??)

My Fairy Godmother (some know her as LuLu, but I'm not fooled) sent me a box of these after I got home from a week long work trip.
She hit me in all my weak spots - surprises, pretty things and sugar.
I'm in love with her and that's all there is to that.

We found out not too long ago that we have a little bunny family living underneath the shed out back. Which is convenient since we didn't plant much of a garden this year, so there are no hard feelings about stolen plants. There are some four year old feelings about why the Easter Bunny runs away every time we try to go talk to him, but - win some, lose some.
And seeing them when we get home from work or while we pour our morning coffee is a little bit of the country life in the city, and I love it.

And this is proof that after last week we are still alive, and can even smile about it.

Because last week decided to start with a bang. Out of no where it was One Mom vs. Two Kids that decided to share a nasty virus, and a side of husband that was unable to be home. One Supermom, coming right up. With a Big Gulp coffee mug on her right, and an industrial size can of Lysol on her left.

We are healthy and glorious and thankful that nightmare is over.

Because remember that time you took your kid to the doctor's office and they puked, then you had to pick up the other kid while one was in the car still puking, and then go into the store to pick up the prescription with both kids in the buggy, one with a puke pail between their feet, and stand in line while they continued to puke? Good, because that was me too.
Puke, it was the word of the day. You're welcome.

Also, because again, surprises! Pretty things! She loves me! My sister, (who has two kids, a full time job, works at the church and I think saves orphan kitties and children in her spare time, after somehow applying the perfect coat of mascara and cooking a four course dinner) sent me this:

Side note: She also made it. By hand.
Whatever. We see who got all the talent in this gene pool.

And bad picture, but I'm glad I recorded it. Because if you follow the rainbow, wanna know where it ends?
My house.

I could see this the whole drive home. The importance of this is that we were under a tornado warning (my favorite. On opposite day.). I was in a panic. The news said the worst of it was right over our little area of town. There had been hail. Large limbs down. Swirling clouds spotted.  My jaws hurt from clenching them so bad.
I kept my eye on the rainbow the whole time. Saw it when I picked up the girls. Could still see it when we headed home. Drove right beside it.
And drove right up to it as we pulled in our driveway. (If I say it was hallucinogenic, don't judge me. But when you see transparent colors waving in front of you, you kind of get that feeling, swear.)

Gave me chills. And if you don't get chills about seeing reminders right in your driveway and remembering God's promise of protection to His people, then you probably don't believe in the Easter Bunny or that fairies deliver cookies to you in your mailbox, either.

I will pray for you.

Here's to all of life's little unexpected moments that make God's promises so breathtakingly beautiful.
