So this morning, she left us. Do you sense abandon in my tone?
Because you should.
Today was a reality check of a day.
Alayna proceeded to pee all over me, Kaelyn did not understand why I could not sing her some song about a rollercoaster that apparently Grandmama knew but I didn't. And let's get real, we all know what happens when a three year old doesn't understand something.
...I would now like to take a moment to publicly beg her to come back...
*chirp chirp*
She cooked, she babysat, she painted. She was a lifesaver when I had to work late or get there early while Ben was gone. She took the girls to Chick-Fil-A to their heart's content. (Side note about the painting: after five years, we finally have a fresh, new master bath/bedroom makeover. All thanks to Lu and her mad painting skills. And I'm ok if I don't see another shade of pewter, grey, or ash for the next 20 years. Good heavens above I had no idea that just picking out a simple light grey would be so mentally disabling for me. Do you have any idea how many grey's are on the paint market?!?! TOO MANY.)
One night, while she was making The Best Pot Roast of All Time, I whipped these up for a little snack- goat cheese, summer corn & heirloom tomato bruschetta. With lots of cracked pepper.
They were pretty tasty, and so easy - throw together some tomatoes, fresh basil, summer sweet corn, sea salt, olive oil. Smear a big dollop of goat cheese on a crostini. Cover with cracked pepper.
Devour. Done.
Look closely, we have our first strawberry blonde curl. :)
Now I have to go kiss on those cheeks for a while, if you will excuse me.
Lazy Saturday breakfast time with the girls.
(Clarification: Alayna's breakfast after breakfast. This child is quickly eating her sister under the table. And you just go ahead and try to take away her cereal puffs. I dare you.)
After Ben returned from Cali, he whisked me away on a little date. Still a romantic after all these years, that Ben. Sweet man.
It's been good times around these parts.
Happy sweltering days of summer to ya'!
xoxo dae
