Hey all.
I really planned on posting pictures to prove what we have been up to the last week. But for some reason my computer at work won't read my camera cord, and lets just say our computer at home has not been accessible for a while, and may remain that way for a few more weeks.
With an estimated 9 weeks to go before our child arrives, we decided to do yet another home renovation. I know, we have issues.
Apparently Ben has known about this for a while, but when I was doing some deep cleaning last weekend, I decided to lift up the corners of our carpet and see what lay (lie? lied? whatever) beneath.
Hello, beautiful original hardwood floors.
Start obsessive determination to uncover you NOW.
I called Ben freaking out. "We have to pull up our carpet! WE. HAVE. HARDWOOD."
"Oh, yeah. I know. I've been thinking about that for a really long time."
"You knew?? Dude, let's get a move on it!"
But Ben, the ever responsible researcher, wanted to make sure we knew what we were getting in to and wanted to investigate getting our crawl space insulated, renting a sander, picking out a stain, moving furniture, and making a HUGE mess.
Okay, so I'm going to have to be patient I guess. Not my best area.
But Sunday night he walks in and says "Put your sneakers on. You don't want to step on any nails."
I have no idea what this man is talking about. I just stare at him from the couch. I move for chocolate. Not sneakers.
"Lets go pull up this carpet."
Ben said later that he didn't know a pregnant woman could move so fast.
This is the day after we paint the nursery by the way. I guess we just can't sit still.
So we are getting insulation tomorrow, the carpet in the nursery is gone, and we are working on the living room, hallway, and spare bedroom.
Getting these hardwoods done is like Christmas to me. I cannot explain to you how ecstatic I am.
I don't mind having to move the furniture (I mean, I'm not moving it. But it is chaotic.) I don't mind pulling up nails or staples. I don't mind living in disheveled chaos for a week or two.
But I will share with you that I have had nightmares of the saw dust that will be blown all over my house.
And that, my friends, sends this OCD cleaning woman into a little bit of a cold sweat.
So if you see me at Lowe's buying a cart full of plastic drop cloth, please don't think I'm crazy.
Scratch that. I am crazy.
But please don't take any of my drop cloths.

That's awesome! Our house has the original (1940ish) hardwoods in it as well..that were covered by carpet, and they turned out GREAT!! Good luck, can't imagine taking that on with 10 weeks left and nesting in full swing!
Hi! I found your blog through Jan's. I think we have a lot in common :o) I am due in a little over 5 weeks and we too are in the midst of major construction on the floors. I totally sympathize with the nesting in overdrive! There is nothing like having brand new shiny floors though! Good luck on your floors and the last 10 weeks of pregnancy!
that is like finding GOLD. Please post pictures. Yall are my home-makeover heroes.
